6:22pm they seem distracted by something (I'm on the phone)

I came for the eagles, and stayed for the friends I made

6:50pm

I am not sure just which one was the "hungry" chick when another attempt at the Eaters fish. This one was succesful. It was a very small bit left and the "new owner" moved to the center of the back rim and started eating.

Then, the left out chick, one that had been perched at the 3:00 position watching the fish change owners took off.

She began an aerial attack on the "new owner"

She flew off over the river - swung back around - out of cam view and made a direct flight attack at the "new owner" passing close

She continued her flight path over the river and again, out of cam view and suddenly a direct attack on the "new owner" No contact was made, but it was close

Again flew on out over the river. Out of cam's view, back in and this time just landed where she had originally been standing

Holy smokes BET. I hope you have all that on video because I'd love to see it. These three are beginning to show their self-survival skills big time ! Maybe after being chased off the nest today it taught them a lesson on how to steal someone else's fish.

7:33 pm
One chick at 11:00 eating. One standing nearby is interested but not moving in for a steal.

Okay I glanced away and I think he managed to steal the fish after all because he's moved over to the 3:00 side of the nest with it. The chick at 11:00 looks a bit perplexed.

The chick at 8:00 also seems to be eating. Did both manage to steal a piece or did it break apart when one stole it ?

A squabble breaks out over the last of the fish. The one at 3:00 keeps his fish.

The chick at 11:00 flies off and arrives again within the minute.

They have had 4 or 5 good sized fish today so I'm sure they aren't all that hungry. It's more a case of -- "I want it because you have it".

7:44 pm
Chick from 6:00 area flies out over the river.

7:45 pm
Returns for a landing.

7:46 pm
The chick that just flew in has flown off again.

7:47 pm
He makes a pass below nest level. Looks as if he's headed toward the trees.

I think our chick at 8:00 is looking toward where the other one has likely landed. If he's there that is the tree where last years chicks liked to perch.

Third chick returned to the nest.
The one at 5:00 is still eating the fish remains.

Amazingly enough the fish has finally been consumed. If Mom were to come in with another fish tonight I don't know where they would possibly put it.
Oh silly me --- they're osprey and apparently they eat non-stop. Titter
