6:30 a.m. to 7:16 a.m.
Adult has been laying in the bowl of the nest. Is this another morning practice run OR ----

7:17 a.m.
Okay -- got up slightly and poked at the bowl, laid down again and is pulling grass in . I have a hunch we have our first egg.

7:40 a.m.
Dad flew off in a hurry and Mom was up watching. May have been an intruder in the area. Mom settled in again right away.
7:41 a.m.
Dad is back --- mating occurs and he flies off again right away.

8:12 a.m.

Very exciting day today!!!
BET, if you had the camera running can you see if there was something happening just before 2:53 Calgary time. Dad was on the nest and then he started flapping his wings a lot. Mom flew back and both were watching something. Dad was still kind of bulked up. Dad then flew off and Mom settled in.
Thanks, Christine

to our ospreys first egg of the season on this Calgary nest.
Glad to see that you caught sight of the first egg early this morning, Judy, and thanks for the s'caps.
I think this is earlier than last year but didn't check the archives. One year it was Mother's Day that the first egg was laid, if memory serves correctly. Hope this cold weather leaves this week, we could do with more springlike weather any time now!!!

5:10pm
I was just thinking that the remaining plastic was safely buried in the sticks at the side of the nest and Dad flew in

He even tried to drape the thing on Mom. She got up and out of the way. So there it is

Dad settled in to incubate. The plastic at his side.
