I think I may have had my osprey mixed up. The one that arrived appears to be eating which leads me to believe it's Mom and that Dad was on the nest all along. Dad usually won't eat on the nest this time of year. Now I am confused.

No -- it is Dad --- now that he's moved around I see he wasn't eating at all. He must have been picking at his foot or at a stick.

grass, tall dried wet weeds?

It is on the nest where he dropped it. Mom not too interested in it at this time. The plastic seems to be wadded up toward the front of the nest bowl. It stuck to Mom's feet a moment and I was hoping it would really stick and she would fly off with it. Roll eyes

wave Morning Judy

I see we watched the same clump of grass!

Mom is acting a bit strangely - maybe good strange - seems to be keeping her head down and shoulders hunched up a lot. May not mean anything

I was laughing out loud . I have never happened to see the "chest digging the nest bowl" from the rear view before.

Dad flew in with another piece of plastic. Mad Dropped it on the first piece and then turned to shape the nest bowl with his chest. It was like watching a dog scratch the ground after he defecates in order to spread his scent into the air to claim the territory.

I know this is not like seeing the moving action, but think of those rear legs kicking back - pushing the plastic in a wad and shaping the bowl with his chest.

Mom seems to be looking at his actions as if he is weird!

Mom flew onto the nest and Dad flew in - right on her - mating occurred. He moved down to her side - watched the river for a couple of minutes and when he started to fly off

You caught some wonderful action today on the nest BET. I was glad to see that Dad had carried off one large piece of plastic and let's hope that the others disappear before Mom lays her first egg, which will likely be soon. She has really been hanging around the nest the past few days and the nest has come along nicely.

The chest- plant with legs in the air would have been hilarious, I saw that earlier but from the front so not as funny a viewpoint as you had, BET. What I did see tonight though was a delivery by Dad of a good-sized fish just after 8:15 pm, which Mom lost no time in claiming and off she flew off with it. I kept the cam up and didn't see her return, but Dad stayed on the nest until just after 9 pm when he flapped his wings a few times as a warning to???? and then off he flew.
