There is an uninvited guest in the nest. I had checked about 8 cst and no one home only the snowy nest. This young eagle has moved sticks, pulled bedding out from under the snow. I did not see it incoming.

It was a surprise. How old do you think this juvie is? What do you think?

eta: I have revised this post. Lori thanks for posting the video by Elfruler (This video is in Lori's post that follows in the posts). Elfruler has also posted that initial age assessment of its being an older juvie has changed after looking at the video..... believes that it is a younger juvie....perhaps in its first year. This has been a worthwhile discussion about the juvie's age. The chart is very helpful Debs.

:hello: Donna...maybe I will be able to tell more from the video but from your scaps I would guess that this juvie is no more than two and may be a first year juvie. The head is very brown in comparison to other 3 or 4 yar olds. If you have seen Buddy..... he is just about to turn 4.... he nearly looks like an adult with a very white head and tail feathers in his latest pics from the WCV and his sister Azalea from the Norfolk nest is a three year old and has a lot of white on her head going by the pics from the Norfolk papparazzi who have seen her in the NBG.
