When I turned on the cam this morning at about 9:00AM nest time, it was extremely windy and noisy. Mom was in the nest rocking and swaying with the wind. She had been doing a bit of digging in the nest and then was looking all around and at times calling softly. Finally she just took off.

Mom came back a short time later with a big piece of a fish and immediatly started calling...I assume to Dad. Not getting any response she proceeded to eat most of the food that she brought spending a lot of her eating time looking all around the nest territory and calling out occaisionally

Mom ate for quite a while...she was still there at just before 11:00AM. She looked around for a time and then started calling loudly for a good length of time.

She was really carrying on loudly and then sat quietly for a few minutes after which she took off leaving the rest of the food behind at about 11:15AM

I had to go out for several hours and when I returned the rest of the food was gone but I have no idea who returned to the nest and finished it.

Two recent updates from the folks at Alcoa.......

Tuesday, January 17, 2012

Too Popular?
The popularity of the Alcoa EagleCam inside Alcoa has reached a point where it is slowing down our internal business network. Starting today the folks in corporate IT are going to block the video feed for folks at work at Alcoa. This will not have any impact on viewers outside the Alcoa network and employees will be able to access the feed from their own computers at home.

I will work to increase the number of posts to keep everyone updated on activity in the nest and we are working to develop a more interactive comment section.

Just a Month Away
We are probably a month (maybe a bit less) away from Liberty laying eggs in this nest. Last year the first egg appeared on February 17th and the second on February 20th.

We have had just about every kind of weather you could ask for in just the last week or so...from overnight lows in the single digits to daytime highs in the 40's. It looks like after we get past today, the rest of the week should see a gradual warming trend.

Thanks to all of you for "tuning-in" and we are looking forward to a great spring season!
