Since daylight Savannah has been yelling at whatever it is overhead that has previously had so much of their attention. She was completely off the nest and on the high bar near the platform befofe Derek actually came onto the nest. Derek fluttered his wings as he settled-in to incubate. The feathers on Derek's left shoulder look different to me today.

The egg in the foreground in the last s'cap has taken on an interesting shape (to my eyes).

Savannah was pecking at the area in front of her and picked up something and set it to the right. Not sure what this is -- for a moment I wondered if it was egg shell --- Hmmmmmmm Puzzled

waveGood morning from California... I have caught up... Is that shell material on the right of the nest? Just curious because in the scap before the last, it is not there...

urdognu/Judy --- I'm wondering the same thing here.
Unfortunately I have to leave for work and won't be able watch much longer but I do suspect we've had a hatch.

Birdfanatic - Does that mean a hatch of egg 3, or that it didn't make it???

Day before yesterday, you could clearly see 3 eggs, yesterday morning, only two. Unfertilized egg. It appeared there were larger shards near the nest a bit ago but they've been pecking at it, reducing its size so I'd say that's the remnants of one. Better luck with the last two!
