A little after 4:30PM nest time.....

A good look at the type of fencing that keeps the eagles in their home.

Thanks, Mary! I was hoping to find time to take a look today, but it's looking like it will be the weekend before I find the time. I had the impression that each pair had their own space - unlike at the Carolina Raptor Center, where there are a few other eagles sharing the habitat with Derek and Savannah. I wonder if they have a "singles" area, and just move eagles to private housing after they've become a pair. Smile

JudyB...I think I posted some pictures of where they place the breeding pairs who aren't on the cam. They have some very nice quarters in the back of Dollywood somewhere. I believe that they leave unattached eagles out on display for the public to see. Maybe they have that fine fencing between them and the pair on the nest?? If I can find the right person to email I will try to find out.

ETA...I didn't find those pictures in the archive either. I'll have to go to the site and see if I can find them. Puzzled

The cam appears to be down today...they are showing videos of last year. Perhaps they were just doing some testing.

JudyB and all...Here is a link showing a tour of the complete set up that the AEF has at Dollywood. It is posted in the second post one this thread but I have put it here again for you...very interesting!!! (I knew I had posted it before Whistling) Scroll way down to see their facilities for other breeding pairs. Grin

I just took another look and the picture is different...maybe they have it on a delay right now instead of streaming????

I found the cam to be online at about 5:35 when I checked. Clapping

Independence and Franklin were both in the nest. What a wonderful, deep nest has been provided for them this year!
