Last but not least, this adult Bald Eagle perched along the Great River Road and the Mississippi River. It was startled by a loud semi truck that drove by.

A very large gathering of blue and white form Snow Geese on Swan Lake. They float on the water and every so often take to the air and circle around and then land again. They are very loud and can be heard from some distance.

Thanks Doreen for stopping by and leaving your comment. The weather has turned very cold in my neck of the rivers and north it is even more COLD!!!!! That is good news for us Eagle Lovers, the north cold will bring the migratory Bald eagles our way.

I ventured at sunrise to the rivers yesterday and found a few more eagles and other nature too. I especially liked this pretty perched adult bald eagle when it decided to scratch an itch. It gives us a wonderful look at it's yellow foot and toes and those wonderful long sharp Talons!!!!

They both took to flight and the adult soared over head.

Along the Illinois River this adult eagle was watching for a meal.

I ventured to the Riverlands Migratory Bird Sanctuary along the Mississippi River and saw this beautiful juvenile Cooper's Hawk. It was perched in a tree in the middle of some tall dried grass watching for a prey.

Last but not least are the hundreds of migratory Trumpeter Swan at the Sanctuary flying in and out. The ponds there are their favorite resting and feeding areas. They are mostly frozen over at this time. The Trumpeters have insulated feathers which allows them to rest and sleep on the frozen ice. I caught this video of a group on the ice. Their young, cygnets, are gray in color.

A little confrontation between a youngster and another adult. It's parents stepped in fast and the unfriendly adult swan backed off. " Don't Mess With My Kid" Grin

I love all these photos Linda. The eagles, Cooper's Hawk and Swans. Very funny watching
the one swan slipping on the ice. I love their feet. I like their "trumpet" too. I can imagine how loud
it was the other day when that flock took off.Grin
