Thanks Annie and Doreen for your comments, lots of beautiful nature out along the rivers.

I encountered an adult at Grafton Illinois yesterday perched along the Illinois River. I captured several photo shots before it took to flight and landed down the river near an immature Eagle. I approached slowly and caught a few photo shots. It was interesting to see the adult just stare at the youngster. The young Eagle flew off first and the adult followed shortly after.

Another adult Bald eagle was perched down the river and I caught photos as it took to flight. Wish I had more light on them, but no sun for some time now.

Well here we are in 2015, hard to believe, time does fly. We are still waiting the arrival of the migratory Bald Eagles. I have been seeing a few, but not as many in years past. The temps are dropping in the north, so they should arrive soon. fingers crossed

I was crossing the Illinois River on the Brussels Ferry when I saw an Eagle land on the opposite shore of the river. When I drove off the ferry i headed straight for where I saw the eagle land. I stopped a little short of the eagle and quietly walked to the shore. I could see the Eagles and it saw me too. I did catch a few shots before it took to flight.

Also sighted a young Eagle soaring over head. I started snapping photos and it flew close to check me out.

I have been doing some exploring on trails along the rivers and have seen some very nice birds.

A female Pileated Woodpecker that was drilling for bugs in a dead tree.

A male Belted Kingfisher watching over the river for a meal.

A Northern Harrier perched along the Illinois River watching for a rodent or small bird.

This beautiful Red-tailed Hawk was perched near the road watching for a rodent in the tall grass.
