Thank you so very much for your kind comments Doreen and Elle. hug Doreen, I must agree, the rivers in my neck of the woods, do provide some awesome wildlife sightings. Nodding yes

January 3, the weather has been below freezing. That means the surface of the rivers have frozen with a few open water areas. It is import for the eagles that the water stay open for fishing. They have migrated from the north due to frozen rivers and very cold weather. I did see eagles out on the ice and soaring over the cliffs along the rivers. I followed a large tugboat and it barges going up river breaking through the ice. As it traveled up river it made a open trail of water for the eagles and gulls. Here are a few photos I caught of the ice breaker.

These are quite distant shots of an adult eagle diving into the icy water for a fish. I came upon the eagle as it was perched along the river. The tug boat and barges had just passed by opening the water and stirring up fish. It took off from its perch and dove into the water with its feet, bring out a small fish. It then few back into shore and landed on the tree again. It must have ate the small fish in one bite, by the time I got around to the front of the eagle the fish meal was over. It was a very cloudy day, so I have added light to the photos
