When I took this one she must have just been up as she was wiggling and jiggling and trying to pull the non-existant nest fluff around her.

Both parents are on the nest and now that I see them side by side, I think it might be Dad doing the incubating. ???

Good morning!

There was one food item in the nest when I first looked in this morning, and then Dad Franklin brought a second one. And Mom Independence seems mighty restless as she incubates (assuming I'm guessing right about who is who). She's been up and readjusted several times - but hasn't let me have a look yet.

Today is Day 40 for the second egg, and Day 37 for the third egg.

Just had a look - and it looked like one chick and two intact eggs.

I'm not sure that I see anything different. There are three pieces of food now and Mom sitting there. She gets up and turns around every time I look away from the cam. I think Independence is the one with the dark place on the back of her head.

I think you're right about Independence being the one with the spot - I'd expect the female to spend more time incubating than the male, and do see the one with the spot on the eggs much of the time.

I got this s'cap around 1:45 pm eastern time - not always easy to find a break to post while I'm working. It looks as if one of the eggs is pipped - but I've been fooled by a spot of dirt in this nest before.

Well, I've no clue if one of the other eggs will hatch or not.

When I looked at 3:50 pm, both eggs looked intact with no marks.

When I looked at 5:20, I saw the spot or pip again.

Oh - I think I have the answer ....

I'm almost positive I saw part of a shell, and something very small moving around next to big sis. Smile

It will be a bit of a challenge for the younger one - #1 is 6 days old today.

I need to leave for an hour or so - will be interested to see if I get another peek once I get back online.

Just had another look, and there's definitely a second chick up and moving about, though I'm guessing it will be morning before we get to see a feeding of the little one.

Today is day 40 for the second egg and day 37 for the third egg, so I'd say the odds are that the new chick is from the third egg - but we won't know for sure for another 2-3 days. I must confess that I'd begun to suspect that there would only be one chick here - and I'm happily surprised to see the new little one. love
