Well I'm finally back but the Pigeon Forge cam is finished for the season. Sad I did find a nice video of #2 and #3...the Littles... being removed from the nest and taken to the hack tower to join their older sibling on June 15th. It also shows the reaction of the parents.

I took this picture of the three of them together again from the video.

Eggs laid: March 23rd----March 26th----March 29th

The first egg spent several weeks in an incubator after being removed for safekeeping when there were tornadoes in the area; perhaps that's why it hatched faster than the other two

Eggs hatched: April 29th (37 days)----May 5th (40 days)----May 6th (38days)

These eaglets did not fledge from the nest but were all removed to a hacking tower.

This disabled eagle pair, Independence and Franklin, living at the Dollywood Park in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. had an extremely great year. They laid three eggs and beautifully raised their three chicks until it was time for them to be removed to the hacking tower. When they become a certain size they can see over the nest and can see all the people and activity going on below them. It would make it harder for them to be released into the wild if they continued to be around this atmosphere. The web site doesn't really give any details of the trio fledging from the hacking tower but they do say that they wish them good luck and would love to have them remain permanent residents of Tennessee.

Here is what they do say!!!! We should look forward to an interesting 2012!!!!

We have ambitious plans for next year, which include new high-tech and high definition cameras that can pan, tilt, and zoom. We also hope to have cameras on an additional nest located in the off-park eagle breeding facility.

A nice picture of E1 and "the Littles" nearly ready to fledge in the hacking tower. love

Here are two wonderful videos from the American Eagle Foundation showing the preparation of the three eaglets for their release. This first one shows "Halo" who was the largest on cam eaglet and first hatched . HE turned out to be a male. Also we see "Endeavor" who was one of our "littles" and is the only female of the trio, and finally, Atlantis , the other and smaller male. In this first video made on August 8, 2011 we see them getting weighed and measured and having their patagial wing tags and radio trackers put on.

This second video shows the release of the three eaglets from their hacking tower on August 9, 2011. A beautiful ending to a wonderful season for these captive eagles!! God speed little ones!!!! Wub
