Hi Tim! wave

Gosh, I don't know how you keep up with all these nests...I can only keep up with 2 or 3, and sometimes not very well!

Beautiful s'cap of the James River Bridge Falcon! You can almost count the feathers. Nodding yes

That inner eyelid is called a 'nictitating membrane'. Besides protecting the eye, it also helps keep it moist. Facinating things we learn here, huh? I'm still learning!

Ma and Pa Hornby only have eggs right now. The projected hatch dates are April 24 for the first egg, and April 28 for the second egg...if you count 35 days from when they were laid. But as you know, Mother Nature has her own timetable.

Hope you and your wife are well. Grin

ETA...

I found this on Wikipedia about the nictitating membrane. Facinating stuff!

"In birds of prey, it also serves to protect the parents' eyes from their chicks while they are feeding them, and when peregrine falcons go into their 200 mph dives, they will blink repeatedly with the nictitating membrane to clear debris and spread moisture across the eye."
