Debs...That beautiful spotted juvi is definitely not a Lake Washington bird! I don't know where that one came from...maybe just passing through!!

I have two scaps from the same visit. The parent flew into the nest with a nice fish and did a lot of calling. When the fledgling didn't show up it decided to make fast work of the fish! Fish gone....parent gone too. It all happened very quickly.

Just landed with the fish

Beautiful visitor on the 19th, Debs - was that before or after the adult and fledgling were there? (I'm assuming the remaining chick has fledged? - seems unlikely that a visitor would be able to stop by for long otherwise) I know there are times on the pics, but they're very hard for me to read unless I bring the pics into photoshop.

Any clue how old the visitor was? I know we have a chart somewhere, but I don't see enough juvies to have learned the ages and stages. I wonder if it's one of the chicks we watched - there were two chicks in 2009, and "Peek" in 2008. love

JudyB...That beautiful spotted juvi might be about 3 yrs old. It's coloring resembles that of Norfolk's "Buddy" who turned 3 this year. Maybe it is "Peek"! Smile

As far as the time on the scaps goes--their clock is incorrect. They never reset it for PDT and it may also be a bit off besides that. :dunno:

I'm sure that the second eaglet...the larger one... has fledged. Otherwise she probably would have answered the parent's call with the fish last night pretty quickly. Nodding yes

Thanks Judyb. The juvie was in this nest after our twins fledged from the nest. Our juvie from this nest still visits the nest so it was just plan lucky that none of the family members were around!! I guess we have no way of knowing for sure if she was a former baby of Ma and Pa Washington would be so nice if it was...Whistling Clapping Not sure on her exact age...I have seen yearlings or juvies that are two years old displaying these beautiful speckled markings.
