The cam froze tonight but at least it froze on this nice picture of two very relaxed eaglets with their Mom-guard. I have written to critterzoom and they usually respond quickly.

Afternoon pictures from Lake Washington after 3:00 p.m.

This family seems to be together often. Both parents are on the branches off the nest. One is hidden behind the tree trunk when not visible.

Eaglet is self feeding.

Welcome, rjsikes - and thanks for the update! These are adventurous eaglets - the older one is 9 weeks old today, and already beginning to branch. It probably does help that their tree has such nice branches within easy reach.

I see they're both back on the nest relaxing now.

I took the s'cap a few minutes ago - but one is still on the branch. I think he/she likes it there!

One eagle on branch, the other one has flown the coop. The second bird was gone earlier this morning, returned, and has now left again.

Thanks for the update, rjsikes - and safe travels to the new fledgling!

This is a lovely nest to watch, but I'm afraid there are so many cams that I suddenly realize it's been weeks since I've checked in on some of the eaglets.

I just checked my chart, and the older one is only 10-1/2 weeks old - which is a bit early for fledging, but does happen. I remember last year that they did fly to the outer branches a bit before they truly fledged (using branching to refer to places they could get to with a bit of a flap-hop, and fledging to mean going to another tree or somewhere far enough that it would take more than a couple of flaps to get there). It is really hard to tell which they're doing unless you've got a good view of the tree and surrounding area - but if they're branching they're more likely to arrive back in the nest very fast when food is delivered. Smile

Thanks again for the update!

There seems to be a branch on the left side. Saw part of a wing flap, then a few moments later the second bird hopped back into the nest.

Both juvies are still in the nest....Clapping

The live cam is messed up; seems to be stuck.... half the screen shows the actual goings on in the nest
the other half appears dark.

Perched in the tree.
