Thanks, PL - definitely an early nest!
Any clue if they might stream both Sooner Lake and the new nest? I'm sure it's a character flaw - but I almost always want it all!

Judy, as luck would have it, Alan was online chatting this morning and here is a direct quote from him ...
"I have looked at the nest with nest cam 2 (Sooner Lake, which is not online), but don't see anything remarkable. Within a week's time we hope to have the Sooner Lake cams on the dead tree nest up and running, AND the Sequoyah NWR cams alongside. I know---"promises, promises, promises.""
It appears from observations by volunteers and Sutton employees that the Sooner Lake eagles will more than likely nest again in the "dead tree" nest (last year's nest).
Sounds like your wish for wanting it all is about to come true, (only I don't think you necessarily wanted the dead tree nest )
I'll try to keep one half eye on things

Thanks, PL!
I readily admit I was hoping they'd move back to the platform nest, but the fact that I haven't seen them doing any fussing with the nice base provided by the folks from the Sutton Center did make me suspect they might not be planning to use it for more than a fishing/feeding platform.
Maybe they've done some renovations on the dead tree nest? It does have potential (at least for a couple of years) - if they do some major expansion and reinforcement. That's certainly achievable - but it does seem that some eagles are a lot better at nest construction than others.
And I am looking forward to "meeting" the Sequoyah NWR eagles!

Good morning!
There's actually an eagle in the nest - haven't seen one there before. It looked as if he or she was eating initially, and is now just hanging out and looking around.

Judy, the Sooner Lake eagles have been observed roughly 5 times a week at the lake nest site based on the chatter that I've read, but they're using it as a feeding station, as you suggested One of the eagles was spotted in the nest at 5pm tonight eating.
