No drama while I was watching Patriot and Liberty from the trail this afternoon. They were both standing on their favorite branch fairly close together and didn't move the whole time I was there. I did not see the intruder any where around. The turkey vultures were in the trees across the pond to the west and there were a bunch of them. But no worries. They minded their own business and Patriot and Liberty were totally unconcerned.

The new viewing location on the new trail is awesome. It is soooo close to the nest, yet the eagles seem to care less. Of course, they put up with cranes and jack hammers for three years. I guess some people walking by or stopping to admire them is a welcome treat after what they have endured.

I bet three little eggs again. What do you all think? What does the other eagle eye say, eaglewoman?

wave Eagle Eye!
Glad you got to go down there and check out the new view! A bit nicer than The Swamp Spot, huh? Not quite the peace and solitude I was used to, but I don't mind the passerbyers!Titter

I'm hoping for some more nice, blue skies like I had on Thursday! Here is one more video I took that night where Patriot is in the nest working when Liberty comes flying in with a large stick. Pat tries to grab it from her, but Libby wins that battle! She eventually leaves the work to Pat and heads up to the nest for a break.

Wow, 3 eggs 3 years in a row?!? Wouldn't that be something?!? I'm pulling for them, that's for sure!Grin

Very Happy I had some company down at the trail tonite, eagletwatcher rode in on her bike and hung out with me for a Red HeartRed Heartlovewhile.
The eagles were in the nest tree area while eagletwatcher was there, but not real visible. Patriot finally moved closer and eventually both of them headed into the nest.
Just after she left, the eagles began calling and mating. The calls sounded a little different to me this time, and I'm thinking that copulation may have occurred tonite!lovelove Patriot stayed on top of her a bit longer before Liberty pecked at him and he flew off the branch!
I'll post my video of all the action as soon as I can!
Meanwhile, here are some pics I took of Liberty at the nest before eagletwatcher arrrived...

wave Hi there gang!
Here are a couple more videos from tonite, Wednesday 1/5/11 at around 5pm. The pair has been very busy bringing in sticks and working together on the nest this week. Another mating attempt by Pat, but Liberty is still not ready to accept him. Shouldn't be much longer, first egg last year was on February 15th, only a little more than a month away!
