Good catch and great s'caps, Judy! I think David said there are a number of nests on Boundary Bay, so they might have been watching a neighbor checking the boundaries between their territories - though I expect there are also lots of other birds that would pass by as well.

8:27 am
Very windy this morning - I know it's partly the relative motion of the nest tree and the WA cam tree, but it looks pretty wild! One of them is in the nest, and might be eating - guess I'll take a peek at the CU cam and see if I can tell what he/she brought.

Well, not very enlightening - though the movement does look as if he/she is eating.

Looks as if breakfast is over - and I think this might be Mom.

That would make sense, as it seems as if it's often hard for the male to have a meal at the nest without the female showing up for a share. Smile

Second adult just arrived. I don't have the sound on because of the wind, but it appeared that Mom did a bit of vocalizing.

Now Dad has joined Mom in the nest, and they're both doing a bit of work.

male brought food to the nest and was looking around for the female so when she didn't show up he ate the menu? himself and then flew away. But he did look and wait for her before he ate

If you haven't made it to one of the Fraser river Safari Tours yet, there will be another opportunity on Dec 31st!

Don't miss it! A great way to end the year 2010!

Hancock here -- another Harrison River Tour -- Dec 31

I doubt we will still see the 6000 to 7500 bald eagles we saw three weeks ago. However, we are very likely to see 1000+ eagles -- it all depends upon how many salmon carcasses are still available.

Jo and Rob Chadwick of Fraser River Safari Tours are going to make another tour from Kilby on the banks of the Harrison River -- 1100 December 31 -- a wonderful way to end the year. The total day will be from 1100 to 1300 -- so you have lots of time for celebrating the New Year in!

Call Jo at 604-826-7361 or Toll Free at 1-866-348-6877 to book or visit their web site at http://www.fraserriversafari.com/.

I hope to see you there.

Happy festive season
David Hancock
