10:56-11:01a - Calls and trills from both.

11:07 - More trilling and calling from both Mom and Dad.
Wind is stronger now.

11:13 -Two single calls twice from offnest.

11:18 - Two single calls.

11:23-29 - Multiple calls from both.
Peeping from chicks and see a little head bobbing out.

11:32-a - Stepped out and came back to see feeding again. Aw,
just saw Delta getting bites this time. Both seemed to be fed equally
to me. I didn't see any pecking either. Just as I say that, a little pecking.

11:39a - Trilling and Mom flies off the nest, landing briefly on the left limb
before flying out to the back of the nest over the Bay.

11:39a - Dad flies into the nest....begins brooding facing 2..WA.

Little Delta taking a bite.

Good morning, everyone! Karen has asked me to stop by and tell you what names the family has chosen for the babies, so here I am.

Yesterday my boys and I brainstormed and thought up a list of names. We started out with Fuzz and Bob (short for Bobblehead), but eventually progressed to some better ones. At last we decided upon Hunter and Talon (aren't they cool names?), and I called my father (the nest is on his property) to suggest them to him. His response was short and immediate.

"Oh, no. Last year's eaglets were Alpha and Bravo, so this year's are Charlie and Delta."

*cue crickets singing* Seriously? Charlie and Delta?

You'll have to forgive him--he's a helicopter pilot and is obsessed with flying terminology. I'm a little scared, because this means if Ma and Pa White Rock have twins again next year, they'll be Echo and...Foxtrot. Followed by Golf and Hotel.

Brace yourselves, people Smile

So there you go. It's Charlie and Delta. Even though Talon and Hunter have a nicer ring to them (not that I'm biased or anything), I guess I'll just have to find my own eagle nest or use the names for characters in a future book!

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. I sure hope Charlie and Delta figure out how to get along! All that pecking seems kind of vicious to me. I find myself wincing a lot. Ah, sibling rivalry...

Kaylea Smile

I'm bringing this forward for those who may not be aware of the eaglet's names or how they got their names
#1 - Charlie (the biggest) and #2 Delta (the smallest). Hatching only a day apart it's not always easy though to tell them apart.

Hope this helps, thanks, and I can't wait to meet little "Zulu"....Titter

12:12pm
Peaceful at the moment.
Parent brooding has a wet head, Charlie and Delta are snuggled under the chest area of the parent (Dad?).
Cloudy, dull, no wind, the tide is in.

12:17pm
Eaglets are fussing about.

12:26pm
Quiet, look at Dad's eyes

12:36pm
Both adults calling to one another, not urgent, just chatting.
No visual of Mom.
Noises heard from the construction below.

12:40pm
More noises from below, Dad is aware as well.

12:42pm
Eaglets are fussing a bit and peeping too.
Dad is up, moving over to begin feeding them.
there's a crop still noticeable on one (?).

So far Dad is picking/pulling a the food and the eaglets are not too happy about that, they want something to eat.
Both are actively trying to get closer and one just bopped the other into submission.

12:45pm
Dad has his back to them, ignoring their peeps so far.
(had a photo here but I lost it RantSmile

12:46pm
Charlie has Delta in submission.

12:47pm
Dad is eating vigorously, the sound is audible.

12:48pm
Mom calls from 'out there', both are calling, the eaglets hunker down close together.

12:49pm
Dad moves back into the bowl, fusses about.
Neither Charlie or Delta were fed.
Charlie close to Dad's right foot and Delta at his left foot.

I've noticed eaglets 'hit the deck" other times as well when the parents are calling to each other. They must get a sense of caution or urgency from the tone of their voices at times :dunno:.

Not sure which chick is which, and only looked in partway through the feeding, but saw the chick in back get a couple of bites, and saw the chick in front do a nice poop shot - so things are looking good.

Adult is now brooding, with a chick occasionally peeking out.
