White Rock 2010/11 ~ Bald Eagle Nest Cam

I didn't get a s'cap, but it looked to me as if a juvie flew right over the nest while Mom was mantling. Perhaps it looked closer than it was (I was watching on WA) - but it looked close.

I know that a hatch is underway - and many adults bring food to the nest in preparation, even thought the chick isn't likely to eat for several hours - the peeping triggers the instinct to feed, it seems.

I am wondering if having the fish lying there on the nest is encouraging hungry juvies to try to grab it.

5:24 pm
Just saw another fly-by, near the top of the screen on the WA cam.

Unfortunately I need to leave for a little while - will be keeping my fingers crossed that this other eagle moves on soon.

Added -
Thanks for the s'caps, Lori - you are fast with those! And I completely agree about burying the fish.

Yikes Lori....great capture :!:
I can hear another eagle in the background, not sure if it is Dad, and wouldn't you know now the wind has picked up considerably.

5:05pI missed Mom coming in. She was eating when I got here.

5:06p - Dad flew out to the left while Mom continues eating.

5:07-14p - Mom moves over the nest bowl, rolls the eggs a couple of times
(the pip was visible when she moved to the top of the bowl) and finally settles
facing 6 (W/A). She is busy with the nesting materials moving them and pulling
some closer to her.

The intruder is back causing Mom and Dad a lot of stress....they trill constantly
for a bit and she is so upset she spreads her wings to cover much of the area
around her.

5:22-24p - Still watching and trilling. Intruder flew near the nest...missed the
shot.

It is so hard to see them so upset. Just look how she's protecting the bowl and
nest.
