This adult and juvenile eagle were a long distance away but I spotted them circling over the area of the Delta OWL nest. There was also several other adults and juveniles circling overhead, no doubt hoping for a free meal. Click 2X bigger.

Here's the juvenile who was perched in the tree behind the compound where some of the other eagles were. It sat there for a long time looking around and not the least bit concerned about the people walking around almost right underneath it. Also, 2 pics of the young golden eagle that had it's wing amputated (taken through the window). Click 2X bigger.

Fabulous pictures (as always) Sassy. Thank you for posting them.
The Gyr-peregrine is Mirage and she was a falconers bird who broke her wing and the falconer didn't want her anymore so he gave her to OWL.
The Peregrine is Willow who was shot and still has the pellets in her wing.
The Snowy is Serenity who was hit by an airplane just next door at the Boundary Bay Airport.
The Golden is Pygar (don't ask me...Rob named him. Apparently it comes from some old martial arts movie??). He is currently being trained to the glove and will eventually become part of the education program, going out to schools and other public displays. That process takes over 2 years though, especially for a bird of this size and strength (take a look at those talons!).
As for the juvie, he does not have a band so we know it's not Bandit or Dan. He's rather stunning though isn't he?
Ellen I know you are out there lurking...how about posting your pictures of the eagle release at the Open House?

Thank YouJudy & Mary. Thanks for the info on the various birds. I was too lazy to open OWL's site to find out their namesRoll eyes

Great pics of the juvie soph. It's too bad birdofprey and I didn't meet you at OWL; Sandra and Judy told us you were there but we couldn't find youRoll eyes

Here are a few more pics taken at OWL. I think the 1st pic is Sampson & Delilah, a pair of Great Grey owls; the 2nd pic is Mirage, the Gyr-Peregrine falcon; I think the 3rd pic is Ladyhawk, a red-tailed hawk. Click 2X bigger.
