These photos were taken the Saturday before the nest collapse. The nest was still intact and both the deceased and surviving eaglet is shown with a parent. It is so sad for me to see but the parents are trying to rebuild the nest in the same tree. This is very common and expected. Joanne Ninesling

According to Dr. Oster of Auburn the eagle chick is doing well but still not eating on its own like he would like. It was not injured in the fall and although it was stressed by the events it appears overall healthy. Big Bend Wildlife Sanctuary had suggested a new platform be erected and the chick be reunited with parents but the State of Alabama WFF is not in favor. This would have had to be done very quickly to give the best chances for reuniting back with parents. We are now hoping that the chick will continue to develop normally and eventually be returned to Eufaula when old enough to take care of itself. We wish this 2nd little chick a successful life of freedom some day.
