A Little Exploring
Many continue to ask about the possibility of a second nest on our property. I spent a couple of hours earlier this week exploring the tree line along our property. I found lots of squirrel nests - and that may be why we see Liberty & Justice eating so many squirrels during the year. I found a spot with several eagles (1-adult and 2-immature) roosting in a tree right next to the river (see photo below). There was one tree close to a mile east of the current nest that has what could be the beginning of a nest. If it is the start of an eagle nest there is no way to know right now if it belongs to Liberty & Justice or another pair. There was no sign of any eagle activity while I was there. We will just have to wait and see what happens at the current nest to know for certain.

Are You Ready For An Egg?

In the next few days to a week I would expect to see an egg or two produced in our nest. It was great to see Liberty & Justice bring fresh nesting material in a few days ago and there is plenty more close by if they decide they need more. We have all seen the rehearsal "sitting" in the nest. The only thing left to do is actually lay an egg and then wait for the hatch in March. I know we are all hoping for a successful hatch this year!

No eagles sighted today but there was a beautiful, very young visitor to the nest on Feb 11th.

The Wait Continues
We all continue to be focused on when the first egg will arrive in the nest at the Alcoa Eagle Cam. As noted by many of the posters in our comment feed, Liberty & Justice have done everything except lay an egg. As frustrating as it might be for all of us anxious to see an egg, this is just one more example of how nature operates on its own timetable and in its own way. Hopefully our patience will be rewarded soon.
