Hi everyone! Thanks so much for all the pictures - I'm loving the clarity of the cam at Sauces - and very much looking forward to seeing a closer view of Fraser Point nest.

The Pelican Harbor pair K10 and K26 is one that won't have a cam this year, and this isn't exactly about them, but about their legacy.

Some of you may remember their 2010 eaglets, A69/Malik and A/68 Braveheart:

They were five years old in spring 2015 - and both were first-time Dads!

A69/Malik is now the resident male at the Lopez Canyon nest on Santa Rosa Island, and the proud father of A50(M)/Nimoy, and younger brother A68/Braveheart teamed up A27 (formerly of Sauces Canyon) to establish a new nest at Baby's Harbor on Santa Cruz Island, where they raised A56(M)/Phoenix. Both chose (or were chosen by) experienced mates - A43, the resident female at Lopez Canyon, is 10 years old and A27 is 11.

And while I tend to remember the sadness at this nest - the adult offspring of male K10 and female K26 are actually doing very well! K10 and K26 first nested in 2006 (he was five - just like Malik and Braveheart) - and she was only four). In the five nesting seasons from 2006 through 2010, they hatched 8 chicks, 6 of which survived to fledge - and four of those are back nesting on the islands and raising chicks of their own!

Their first chick, A49/Cruz ended up establishing a nest at Fraser Point in 2012 with sibling A64/Spirit; she was 6 and he was 4 that first year, and they did have one chick which died shortly after hatching. Then in 2013, they raised A89 (F)/Sapphire who fledged successfully, becoming the first offspring of wild-fledged eagles to fledge on the Channel Islands since the species disappeared from the Channel Islands in the 1950s and 60s. And they fledged two chicks in 2014, and two in 2015 - producing 5 young eagles so far. And the Fraser Point pair is scheduled to get a camera for 2016!

So - four adult offspring - and 7 grand-juvies, and counting!
