Good morning, Bev, and thanks for stopping by!

9:04 am
A1ladya reported a second mating around 7:40 am.

It's a beautiful morning in Maine - but cold and windy. However, it's supposed to get above freezing for a while this afternoon, so that's a good thing.

I think this is Mom standing in the nest and looking around, if only because I don't think Dad could be there that long without moving a few sticks!

Checking the nest cup at 9:17 am - the shot I was trying for was a bit more graceful - this looks a bit as if she's trying to do a nose-dive into the bottom of the nest.

9:32 am
I was away from my desk for a few minutes, and came back to see both of them at the nest. Dad did a bit of work, while Mom perched on the branch in back, then Dad joined Mom, then... Red Heart

Dad and Mom sat side by side for a minute or so, and then Dad flew off.

11:54 am
I was just about to post that Mom was being so still that I had to really stare to see if there were little ripples in the water to be sure the cam was still streaming - and off she went!

12:52 pm

One came back with something large at 12:45 pm, and a moment later he(?) appeared to be putting a large branch, perhaps with leaves or pine needles still attached, at the left side of the nest near the tree trunk, so I'm guessing what the large dark thing was that was brought into the nest. Not a very good picture of it.

The other one arrived a minute later, at 12:46 pm, and both of them did a bit of digging in the nest; then at 12:49 pm, Mom jumped up to the Y branch.

Dad joined her a minute later, and....

That makes four times today (that we know about). I think this pair is getting very ready for eggs! love

Dad flew off a minute later, and Mom is sitting on the Y branch. I think she's calling occasionally - maybe lunch is late. Smile

Good to see you here, Darlene! I think we're getting close to eggs!

2:40 pm
Dad left fairly soon after Mom took control of the meal - up to the Y branch at 1:43 and off a minute or so later. It looks as if Mom has finally finished eating - definitely a large lunch!

She's standing in the nest, looking around - and checking the nest bowl area.

2:51 pm
Mom up on the Y branch (or what's left of it - the horizontal branch in back of the nest) for a poop shot, then cleaned her beak and gave a shake.

3:57 pm
Mom is back in the nest working on the leftovers. If she eats much more, I think the egg will pop out from sheer lack of room inside!

3:59 pm
And Mom just flew off over the back of the nest.

(And actually that might have been Dad - I'd forgotten that the eagle I was sure was Mom left for a bit at 3:20 pm - and I was focused on other things so not positive it was Mom who returned.)

4:03 pm
Nest is empty.

Someone is back. I'm thinking Mom, but hard to tell in the shadows.

4:13 pm
Nest is empty. I missed the departure, but she was there until a minute ago.

5:31 pm
The nest is still empty. The sun is no longer shining on it, but it's still light out, so perhaps we'll see another visit before it gets dark.

Added -
The folks on the Maine forum report that both adults returned to the nest at 6:32 pm - and mated again! That makes at least 5 times today, which may be in the running for a new world record, at least for nests with cams.

One left shortly afterwards, and the other about 10 minutes later, and as far as we know, no one was on the nest when darkness fell.
