Thanks for all your support during the year, Judy.

While dropping off copies of A Kid's Guide to Elizabeth Lake - 2013 to the Tourist Information Office, I spotted this mallard doing its special Duck Dance.

I also spotted
Red-winged blackbirds,
Canada geese and goslings,
Mallards,
Ruddy ducks,
Coots,
Columbia ground squirrels,
Killdeer,
Tree swallows,
Shrimp,
Backswimmers,
And a PELICAN.

At first I thought it was a bald eagle,
As it approached,
Until I made out
Its large beak.

It landed some distance away
Close to an island
Surrounded in cattails.

Shortly after it took off
Heading south,
Before it gained height,
Then circled high above the lake,
Rising steadily on a thermal.

I wonder what I'll see next time?
