Flying free: injured eagle released into wild

Wildlife News

Wonderful news for the Strathcona eagles and ground observers of this nest in Vancouver, BC.

The male has survived being electrocuted in December!! That is so rare for an eagle to survive an electrocution. OWL (Orphaned Wildlife Rehabilitation Society) released him yesterday, at the nest site. Some of our local Hancock Wildlife members were able to attend and see him hopefully join his mate. Here's the video of the CTV news broadcast regarding the eagle release.

Here's the link to the HWF discussion forum for the Strathcona eagle nest.  I have posted my pictures there showing David Hancock banding 'Pa Strathcona' earlier this week, prior to the eagle's release yesterday.
